Review
A recovering captive, Sarah, she’s is intelligent and stronger than most women. While she stay in her sister’s shelter to deal with her ordeal, she is bonding and helping all the other woman deal with their ordeals. Romaric, a gorgeous West Regent Vampire Lord, has set his eyes on Sarah. Instantly knowing that she is his “Moiras”. He has a little trouble wooing Sarah, to set in his ways for the modern woman. Clock is ticking, they must be bonded, before they have the power to stop evil enemy lurking. She’s the only one that can break down the walls he has built around himself. But will it be enough for Sarah to bond with him? Overall this was a fantastic read. The characters were diverse, deep, and complex. The story-line, never was boring. It left me eager for the next installment. The pace kept me turning the pages, but in a way I didn’t feel rushed. The romance and story’s climax was very nicely done. The writing style was splendid. Overall this book is an absolute must read. Five star rating.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
So many things to tell, so little time. I love chocolate, a good bourbon on the rocks, the hot sun baking me while I’m laying by any body of water (including a pool), and a hot, steamy, well-written book, which must be read every single day or I get cranky. I can’t sit still for a single moment, unless I’m reading. I have to write something daily or I get antsy. I hate the cold, anything with eight or more legs and liver. I must have a daily coffee with cream and sugar and get at least seven hours of sleep a night.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated? What inspired you to write your first book?
When I was a teenager, I tried my hand at writing song lyrics, but nothing serious. I didn’t even want to write a book until just a few years ago. I started Surrendering almost three years ago now and put it down several times because my daughter was getting married and needed to focus on that, but when I picked it back up it was like a fire was lit and now all of a sudden I have written six books! What inspired me to write it was simply my own personal challenge. I read a lot, I write well and thought I’d give it a try.
What surprised you the most about the writing/publishing process?
How confusing and complex it is. As an indie author, you have to do everything yourself. Find an editor, cover artist, formatter, help with marketing (which is a nightmare), make contacts with bloggers. I always say “you don’t know what you don’t know” and I don’t know a helluva lot when it comes to publishing a book, but every day I learn more.
How do you develop your plots and characters? Do you use any set formula?
For me, there is no special magic here. The thoughts just come to me and I have to go with it, because the story and the characters take me there anyway. I do have a little black book that I write down ideas and try to flush out plot twists (which I’m super big on), character traits, etc. It’s like my writing bible and if I lost it, it would be akin to losing my cell phone!
What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?
I’m going to answer this as a reader, not an author, because each reader has a differing opinion on “good writing”. I personally think a solid plot is key. Character development is the second key. If I cannot connect with characters for some reason, then I tend to DNF the book, but if the characters are developed and the plot sucks, then it’s just as bad. I also hate it when I see a lot of errors in a book, but having gone through this experience myself, you can have multiple people read the book and STILL have errors, so I am far more forgiving of a few typos or punctuation problems.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
I would say the most challenging thing so far has been not writing myself into a corner. Because I’m writing series right now, I may be on book 3 and need to change something way back in book 1 so I open myself to more possibilities down the line, but once a book is published…in the corner you will stay!
If you had to choose which writer would you consider a mentor?
I don’t know if I would choose a mentor as much as I would choose those that influenced me. JR Ward, Alexandria Ivy, Larissa Ione, D.B. Reynolds, Pepper Winters, K. Bromberg, Samantha Towle are just a few, but honestly there are so many others.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
The literary world has changed so much in just the past three years with the explosion of ebooks, which has allowed so many fantastic authors to be recognized. Some of my new favs are: K. Bromberg, Pepper Winters, Tonya Holmes, and L.A. Wild.
Can you share a little of your current work/projects with us?
Squee!! Soooo excited about my current project: The Colloway Brothers, which is a contemporary romance/erotica series. The first book, Forsaking Gray, is targeted to be released this coming August. Here’s a little teaser:

It took only 2 months for me to write Reawakening and I only had slight writer’s block. This story flowed surprisingly easy.

Yes. Right now I have a novella (Mike/Giselle) planned next and then book four will feature Geoffrey/Beth and book 5 will feature Taiven/Brynne. I will determine at when I’m writing book 5 if there will be a sixth.

Romaric was an original lord in book 1 and the most enigmatic of the three. He was fun to write and fun to delve into his personality. I introduced Sarah, his h, back in book 1 as well, but honestly when I was writing book 1, I didn’t intend to pair them together. That just sort of happened when I was writing book 2 and seemed natural to the storyline that was unfolding.

What were your feelings when you first saw the cover of your finished book?
Elation. All of my RVL covers are fantastic! My cover artist is simply amazing and I can’t believe how I lucked into finding her. She’s lives in Singapore.

If you didn't like writing books (which you do), would you see yourself doing for a living?
Writing is only my hobby right now, so I do have a full-time job, which I honestly love! I work as a client executive in the insurance industry and have 25 years of experience in HR and benefits.
Do you have any favorite conferences you attend? What are they?
I just published my first book in December, so I haven’t attended any conferences or signings yet, but I’m looking at options for 2016.
