Devon Ashley - Giveaway, Character Guest Post, and Review

PhotobucketNormally, the school creates the hunters…not the monsters.

Abby Sorrensten likes to play rough. Ripping the horns off the foreheads of demons, manipulating lightning and setting things on fire with the flick of your wrist can give you a serious rush. So she probably wasn’t the best choice for the Order’s experimental training program. Thirteen years of isolation, lack of affection and a bruised and broken body from horrendous training sessions creates more than just an exceptional fighter. It creates an evil within - an evil responsible for several deaths the night she left.

Two hundred years later Abby resurfaces as the very thing the Order trained her to kill: a vampire. A mythical demon has set his sights on the school and only the ordained hunter has the powers to face it. Unbeknownst to the Order, Abby’s their precious ordained one and their only chance for survival. As much as she would love to leave them hanging, she’s not willing to risk the life of Emily, a fellow friend and hunter also fed up with the organization.

But for Abby, locking herself away in a fortress with angry descendents of those she killed causes suspicions and tensions to run high. Abby must learn the demon’s weaknesses for battle before the Order learns hers.

My Review:

Mind blowing action with such an original Storyline. How characters in this book was developed is well done. The plot had a little bit of everything in it, and really pulls at your emotions. Do not expect to put the book down once you open it. It is not going to happen. From the beginning it draws you in and the pace will keep a tight hold on you. Ending will leave you salivating for book 2.

My Rating 5 Stars!

** This author did a little something extra for the readers of Were Vamps Romance. She added an audio file for the post. This is a 1st for Were Vamps Romance, so be sure to thank her and let her know what you thought!

Ordained Character Post

Hi. I’m Valerie and I have a dilemma. Given my current living situation, I don’t really have anyone to talk to. So, I’m using this session to ask you: If you knew without a doubt your friend was gonna die and nothing could be done to change that, could you – would you – tell her?

For the past fifteen years I’ve been the resident psychic for the Order. Not really by choice. I was originally recruited cause I bare the mark of the hunter, but when my advisor realized I was clairvoyant, I was removed from training and taken off the roster to become an active hunter – doomed to spend the rest of my life in this hellhole. I’ve been cursed with the gift of sight and I’ve seen the gut-twisting, horrific deaths of every hunter that left this school – hunters I was once friendly with.

But years of experience has proven the visions are absolute. Once I see your death there is no escaping it. Not once was the outcome able to be changed – not even Emily, who did die but was brought back to life by the woman that is the subject of this dilemma: Abby.

Abby is special - beyond special - there is no other like her. She’s a hunter, a witch, a vampire, and unfortunately, ordained to battle the demonic pet of the Goddess Eris. Her life has bred her for this purpose and there is no avoiding it. When the time comes she’ll be automatically transported to another dimension to face this demon. No spell can hide her, no weapons can pass through the portal and no one else can make this journey with her. She’s on her own – and she will die.

I know what you’re gonna say. She’s the best warrior this world has to offer, she’s magically gifted and she’s immortal. Let me assure you. If ever there was something that could destroy her immortality and wrap death’s arms around her, it’s a demon pet blessed by the Goddess it serves.

I know I sound cold. Blame it on the Order for isolating me all these years. Blame it on the cursed visions that made me feel each of those deaths as if they were my own. Hell, blame it on me if you’d like. Whatever it was, I’ve learned not to feel too much over the years. But this woman has become my friend. And I’d love nothing more than to change her fate. But like I said, once I see your death, your death is absolute. So now I’m asking you: If you knew without a doubt your friend was gonna die and nothing could be done to change that, could you – would you – tell her?

I love that we can read on cell phones now. :) Why couldn't mine do that when I went to high school??? Now if I'm having a bad first date, I can go hang out in the bathroom for a bit and read a few chapters! LOL.
