Beneath the Broken Moon: Part One (Broken #1)
by Sarah Mäkelä

Werewolf relationships are all about influence and offspring, especially as they are becoming extinct. But Carmela Santiago resents that type of life. She dreams of falling in love, not following the example her parents have set.

When sensual vampire Derek Ashmore rescues her from dangerous hunters, she tumbles head over heels for him. Not a wise decision since werewolves and vampires are mortal enemies.

Meeting her caring mate-to-be Brendan Kelly has her further questioning the future. Regardless, her life has forever changed now that she's met not one, but two men who pull at her heartstrings...

Review:

Taking place in the future, Carmela is a wolf shifter who is under her fathers abusive hold. The only expectation for her is to produce as many offspring as she can and to obey her fathers wishes for an arranged marriage. The one night her father allows her out to theature, she is hunted by humans. Wounded by a shot, running down an alley, she gets pulled into a house. Not just any house, a home of one medical doctor, high Council member, and sexy vampire Derek Ashmore. He is drawn to Carmela. But she is promised to a sexy alpha male. And so the love triangle begins.

This was a GREAT read. The abusive situation I can see being a little too uncomfortable. However, if you can handle it you wont be disappointment! Author Sarah Mäkelä writing will leave you insatiable for more. This book is full of something for everyone. This book melts everything you love about books, into one story. So many twists and turns. Ending with a cliff hanger. The writing flows. POV starts with Carmela, but changes as you go. Character are well built. This is a recommended read.

Sarah Mäkelä

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Sure. I’m a paranormal romance author with a hubby and wonderful cats that enjoys traveling, reading, playing computer games, and watching movies.
How do you develop your plots and characters?
Do you use any set formula? I think my set formula is that I don’t have a set formula. *grin* The characters tend to come together in bits and pieces. I do like to have basic plot points lined up, so I have a general road map to help guide me to where I’m going. Sometimes, I just make it up as I go along.
Can you share a little of your current work/projects with us?
I’m currently working on the Beneath the Broken Moon: Part Five. It’s the final episode in Carmela, Brendan, and Derek’s journey. I’m equal parts excited and sad because I’ll be glad to work on something new but I also really love these characters.
In Twitter Fashion use 140 characters or less, sum your book for us.
Here’s the ‘Tweet’ summary for Part One: Life as Carmela knows it is forever changed when she meets not one, but two men who pull at her heartstrings.
How long did it take you to write it, and did you have any writer’s block along the way?
I first wrote Beneath the Broken Moon as a very different novel back in 2010. I edited it over and over and submitted to a few editors and agents, but no one was that interested. Toward the beginning of this year, I looked at it again and got sucked in. With serials becoming increasingly popular, I knew this would be a good test subject due to the storyline. I completely rewrote it, and the first part took about three weeks.
Will we be seeing a following book to this series?
Actually, yes. While Part Five marks the end of the road for Carmela, Brendan, and Derek, I have plans for a couple of the secondary characters to get their own happy endings.
If you didn't like writing books (Which you do), what would you see yourself doing for a living?
I would definitely be working with computers in some fashion. If it weren’t for the math and science requirements, I would’ve taken Computer Science in college instead of English.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I’d love flight, then I could travel whenever I wanted to. *grin*
Where is one place you would like to visit that you haven't been before?
I’d love to go to Iceland. It’s looks beautiful. Plus, I’m fascinated with Scandinavia and the Nordic countries.
If you could have any accent for anywhere in the world, what would you choose?
I fluctuate between Finnish and British.
