Author Interview

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I was born and raised in South Africa. I majored in motion picture at a well known South African film school and I have worked on various international and local film sets both as an actress and producer. In my spare time I write books and screenplays. Three of my books have been on Amazon.com and UK's bestseller lists.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

I use to love writing as a child. I used it as an escape from life. I was bullied at school and it helped me to overcome a lot of obstacles. Even later in high school , when the bullying stopped I still found myself writing down intimate thoughts.

What surprised you the most about the writing/publishing process?

There's a new book on the market every single day and everyone is trying to reach the bestseller list.

How do you develop your plots and characters?

Do you use any set formula? Not really , I use my imagination more than anything else. But like all writers I do get writers block now and again and focus on key things I want to get across in a paragraph by listing key words.

What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?

Editing. Proofreading. Edit again and a story line that flows.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

I'm currently writing a book called Undead it's a one of a kind Zombie dystopian and I've also just completed the first book in the Delicious series and I have also completed work on a new series called Evan Falls . The first book in the series is called Rivals. Furthermore I'm busy with a political book that gives a tongue and the cheek look at South African politics by using family to showcase various political ideologies.

In Twitter Fashion use 140 characters or less, sum Afterlife for us.

A story about love against all odds.

How long did it take you to write it, and did you have any writer’s block along the way?

It took me 3 months to write “Afterlife” and yes I had writers block.

Will we be seeing a following book to this stories?

Yes! Closer will be out in the next 3 months. I realize a lot of people felt that Afterlife was rushed. So both will be rereleased at the end of October.

I always must ask, If you could pick one actor to portray Daniel on the big screen who would it be and why?

Zach Conroy without a doubt mainly because he's a fresh young new actor and also because his boyish good looks remind me of Daniel. He reminds me of the typical wounded bad boy with a soft side.

Was there anything you find particularly challenging when writing this book?

There were times when I struggled to find the right emotions... People don’t understand how hard it is to write romance. You have to really feel it and go to a place inside of yourself that might scare you.
