A Demon Does it Better. Linda Wisdom. AMAZING 7 ITEM GIVEAWAY!!!

Bestselling author Linda Wisdom, with 13 million category romances sold, is working to build her single title audience with the hottest new area of the romance category– sexy demon heroes.

Lovely witch Lili Carter takes a job at a paranormal hospital where patients have been disappearing. There she encounters Jared, a dangerously sexy demon on a mission that gets Lili into a world of trouble. Lili can't avoid Jared for long and soon they find themselves creating a whole new kind of magick...
My Review:
A Demon Does It Better is the second book in Linda Wisdom's Demon series.
Lili is a 700 year old witch who has healing abilities. She decides to go back to work as a doctor at Crying Souls hospital when her friend Sera comes up missing while working there.
Jared is a demon who has been locked up in an asylum beneath the hospital by a doctor who says that he is very dangerous. He's been a "guest" in this prison cell for more then 100 years and has suffered through his share of abuse and degradation.

This book is wrapped up in a fun mystery and a heartwarming romance that kept me engaged and glued to my Kindle. The author has made a unique and magical world for her characters to live in. Add a little romance (Passionate and sexy yet tender and warm.) And some witty humor with a fun loving and snarky additude and you have quite an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Author Interview

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a born and bred Californian, married, with a small zoo in the house. Pack leader o two white mini Schnauzers. I’ve been writing for 32 years, published for 31. I’ve written various sub-genres over the years, but paranormal is strong in my blood. Shows with my collection of witch Barbie dolls and other figurines I’ve collected over the years. I love it when friends let me use something from their lives in my books. But I always change the names to protect the guilty. Proof that I also have a very demented sense of humor.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I joke that I’ve wanted to be a writer since I first picked up a crayon. I preferred coming up with new stories than listening to my parents read to me and later on, read for myself.

What surprised you the most about the writing/publishing process?

Hm, probably all of it. So many changes over the years. My first book was published in 1980

and a lot has gone on since then. I’ve gone from using a small electric typewriter to a laptop and netbook. From writing an entire book and sending in a hard copy, that I’d have copied at a copy shop, to emailing the book.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?
LOL! More than one going on. A friend and I have contracted an erotic paranormal series that are sold as Kindle apps through http://www.coliloquy.com/. The first Great Escapes will be out soon. Plus I’m putting up the backlist books I own the rights to on http://www.joyridebooks.com/ and I’m finishing up a Jazz and Nick novella titled Hotel Hex that will be up soon along with Thea’s Book, Guns ‘N Hexes, coming out as an ebook in a few months. And that’s just the beginning!

Sexy witch doctor meets homicidal demon. Who knew love would follow?

How did you come up with a story with such a whirl of events?

I guess you’d say it was layer upon layer. I knew it would have Lili, Cleo came on board, I created a hospital that was part gothic, part modern medicine, the magickal plane Inderman that has a bit of everything supernatural there.

How did you come up with the character Lili?
Lili first ‘appeared’ in 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover. But only as wallmail, witch’s version of email. I’d been fooling with ideas for her book for probably the past three years.

I must ask, If you could pick one actor to portray Jared on the big screen, who would it be and why?

Ooh, Sam Worthington. Although I could also see him as Nick, Jazz’s vampire hottie.

Was there anything you found particularly challenging when writing this book?
The hospital. I wanted to put so much more as in characters and the building itself in the book, but I knew it would be overkill.

Just for fun:

What is the next book can't wait to get your hands on?
Kim Harrison’s A Perfect Blood.

What is the last book you read?

Yasmine Galenorn’s Shaded Vision which was terrific. I couldn’t go to sleep until I finished it!

When you're not writing, what do you like to do to pass the time?

Spend time with my dogs. We’re our own crazy pack. Good thing I’m Alpha. :}

Thank you Linda Wisdom for your time here on WVR today! It's been fun getting to know you!!

Thank you for having me!

Character Interview

Please welcome Jared to WVR today.

Good morning Jared. Could you tell us where you're from?

I was born in the Shadow Realm. Not a nice place, even though I wouldn’t say the asylum was any better. It’s a harsh land, violent, and you destroy someone so they don’t kill you.

In Twitter Fashion using 140 characters or less, sum up your personal add for us
*if you were to have one.*
Shadow demon seeks the right female. No cats.
How do you deal with conflict or change?

Over the centuries I’ve had no choice but to deal. It usually involves someone getting hurt and hopefully the one getting hurt isn't me.

Who else is in your life?

Other than Lili? Not much, except for Azmeth, a wizard in Inderman.

What are your goals or motivation?

To make a life for myself in this new world.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

Lili’s trying to get me to consider a hobby. For now, I’m doing a lot of reading.
Of what are you most proud of?

Lili. She was never afraid of me, stood toe to toe when I was an SOB and she doesn’t think twice when helping the helpless. The best kind of partner.

What is your most embarrassing memory?

Probably any time Coing and Turtifo beat the crap out of me.

How did you meet the person of your dreams?

I was hanging out in Inderman one night and I saw her and that damn cat of hers. I felt as if my heart had found my mate. All I had to do was convince the witch.

What is it that you love most about Lili?

Her inner strength. She’s a realist, but she looks beyond the surface. She sure had to with me.

Thanks for being part of our showcase today on WVR! It's been a pleasure having you here!!

Witches and Doctors and Demons, Oh My!

Thank you Michelle for having me on your blog!

I know, you probably see a joke in witch and doctor. Except this witch medical professional is a lot cuter to look at and the power to back up anything she does.

And did I mention she also has a cat that just happens to have been Cleopatra?
Who better than the Queen of the Nile to advise a lovelorn on her love life.

Lili was one of the first witches to come to mind for my series, but I wanted to wait until I found the right story for her. And I had others that screamed to be told first. You can’t argue with a 700 year young witch. Trust me on this.

Lili’s very different than the previous witches. She has snark, but not as much as Jazz. Doesn’t think of hearts and flowers like Stasi and the only revenge she’s sought is a nasty hex against a former boyfriend. There’s no kickass to her personality like Maggie, but you’d still not want to go up against her. Beware the witch with wand and scalpel.
A Demon Does It Better Lili deals with a dark and demon with a troubled past, supernatural creatures who are prejudiced against humans, and a sassy doctor who’s determined to prove the demon isn’t insane. But there’s also a mystery in the hospital with staff members disappearing for no reason. Lili’s there to find out what’s going on since a friend of hers is one of the victims.

I like to weave a bit of history in my books. With witches who’ve been around that long it’s easy to do. It’s also a bit of a challenge for me since I need to decide what historical facts would fit a particular witch.

With Jazz it was the films of the nineteen-thirties, Stasi once residing in Olde Salem during the witch trials, Blair’s memories from World War II, Maggie as a bodyguard in the past and caught up in an ancient Mayan curse, and for Lili it seemed fitting to mention the infamous Bedlam Asylum in old London.

Call it a variety from me. Paranormal, romance, and a brief history lesson. I enjoy variety in my reading. What about you? Do you like learning something with your books or do you just want a straightforward story?

Linda

Hi ya Linda! As always, an interesting and enlightening interview...we minions love knowing more about our favorite authors and how their brains tick! Okay, so as I'm reading the interview a song kept popping up in my head and I figured it might as well for everyone else reading this (I love to share that way - bwahahahaha), wait for it, wait for it....
The Witch Doctor song!!! I know, right? How perfect...la la the witch doctor just told me what to do....blah blah the witch doctor...
okay, I'm not known for remembering lyrics which gets a laugh fest going on when people actually listen to what I'm singing...that song - can't get it out of my head, it's like this little voodoo doctor is running around and dancing, shaking his hinny in my mind's eye...I need a stick so I can poke him...la la the witch doctor...

Can't wait to read the latest...Linda, you ROCK (like the witch doctor....keep singing....)

Gina Growe, in Springfield, IL where three German shepherds are barking hysterically (maybe they are singing the witch doctor song) at the neighbors cat...you know, the cat that likes to sun itself on my car!
